New Work and Upcoming Exhibition

It's that time of year when the perennial birds flock to the feeders for sustenance to take on the punches of winter. Fill the feeders, clean your spotting glasses, brew some cowboy coffee and enjoy the sights! I have an upcoming jury show at the Phipps Center for The Arts in Hudson, Wi in the next month. It's annual show called the "45th Parallel", which is the line that runs right through Hudson, WI from a geographical standpoint. I will have three pieces in the show. I hope to finish my nest drawing picture above, which I have made further ground on since and hope to have completed by December. Two pieces found new homes after the MacRostie exhibition. A couple who are avid art collectors, and have pieces and from the venerable Gendron Jensen. If you are running out of ideas for a possible Christmas gift... consider this self deprecating plug in regard to my book, which you can view some pages and order on the link above. My next post will be the finished nest drawing!

Birds Find a New Home

My piece, "Sitta sittadae" has now found a home at the University of Minnesota-Morris permanent collection. Next exhibition is next month at the MacRostie Museum in Grand Rapids, MN. The venerable Gendron Jensen just finished his natural drawing series there. I have a new aerial drawing nearly completed and organizing ideas for my next series which will be large, heavily detailed and less surreal. On the running front.... Lots of time spent outdoors, lots of miles covered. A few races planned for this fall including a 6 day 50 miles a day next summer covering the entire 300 mile Superior Hiking Trail. In the mean time.... time to pick some hops and enjoy some SURLY and LiftBridge after these hard workouts in this sultry weather!

New Art Site

Title: Barn Swallows Approaching Lake Superior; Superior, WI (circa 1880)

All of my volumes of art work thus far in regard to my Field Menagerie to Birds of North America is now accessible from this new blog site. If you click on the upper tab that says, " WYNN DAVIS DRAWINGS" it will take you to my web album where you can view all of my work, purchase work, and look at all of the vitals. I chose this direction of format because it is easy, free, and depicts the drawings much better via Flickr.  I will keep abreast with this site with new drawings as they come forward, along with updates and pictures of the process. Thanks for stopping by!
